WooriDo showcases traditional Korean liquors using Pyeongchang Sanyang-sam Ginseng at DRINK SEOUL 2024... Aiming for Sustainable Agricultural and Forestry 6th Industrialization

Agricultural corporation WooriDo (CEO Cho Jae-young) announced its participation in 'DRINK SEOUL 2024', which will be held from April 11th (Thursday) to 13th (Saturday) at COEX in Seoul.

The agricultural corporation WooriDo aims to become a specialized company in sustainable farming and forestry 6th industrialization and has established itself in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province. Based on patented processing technology for Sanyang-sam (Korean mountain ginseng or cultivated wild ginseng), WooriDo received venture certification and strives for sustainable 6th Industrialization through research, development, production, processing, and education.

At this exhibition, WooriDo plans to promote and market Pyeongchang Sanyang-sam and processed products made with Sanyang-sam, one of the specialties of Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, not well known to the public. The popularity of traditional liquors has been increasing among not only the older generation but also the recent MZ generation, with the trend of "home drinking" and "drinking alone" spreading after COVID-19. Various traditional liquors have been developed and released. Therefore, WooriDo has launched new products targeting the MZ generation.

WooriDo's Saffunhi (roughly meaning 'Softly' in Korean) is a product that utilizes a 5-year-old Pyeongchang Sanyang-sam rich in saponin and its patented circular preservation freeze-drying technology. It preserves ginseng's original shape and nutrients, which is good for fatigue recovery, physical strength, and immunity enhancement. It is handmade and can be stored at room temperature permanently through complete drying. Moreover, it can be used as instant ginseng liquor by putting it in soju or vodka, allowing you to feel the flavor of ginseng within 10 minutes. It is a product that can also be enjoyed by soaking it in warm water.

Bidam is a traditional Korean liquor series containing Pyeongchang Sanyang-sam that all customers can enjoy.

Baek-oju (roughly meaning 'White Crow Liquor' in Korean) is a makgeolli made from glutinous rice, white rice, and Sanyang-sam, with an ABV of 10%. It is a traditional Korean liquor with a soft taste, slight sweetness, and a gentle spread of ginseng aroma.

Sam-aju (roughly meaning 'Three Seeds Liquor' in Korean) is a medicinal liquor with an ABV of 15%, made from fermented Korean sticky rice, white rice, and Sanyang-sam.

Sansamju (meaning 'Wild Ginseng Liquor' in Korean) is a homemade-style Korean liquor with an ABV of 16.9%. It is made from freeze-dried Sanyang-sam extract and added sugar for taste.

Bidam makgeolli kit is a kit for making authentic makgeolli at home with Nuruk (makgeolli malt) and rice.

WooriDo's official stated, "We aim to export to the United States, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Although ginseng is well known for its health benefits abroad, information about Sanyang-sam is not widely known. Therefore, we want to increase the overseas consumption of Sanyang-sam, an excellent forest product resource, through proactive overseas marketing." They added, "We are actively seeking buyers through participation in exhibitions to promote overseas sales of the Saffunhi brand. We also plan to expand the liquors business containing Sanyang-sam."

DRINK SEOUL offers a convenient opportunity to explore a wide range of beverage industries, including premium traditional liquors, wines, distilled spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages, all in one place. During the exhibition period, KIBEX (Korea International Beer Expo), KIBA (Korea International Beer Award), and KIBCON (Korea International Beer Conference) will be held simultaneously. Additionally, side events such as B2B (1:1 business matching program), palace liquor brewing competition, and traditional liquor sommelier competitions are organized.
