inDJ Showcases inDJ, an AI-Driven Music Recommendation Service, at SLUSH 2022: “Automatically Analyzes the Users' Situation and Emotions!”

inDJ (CEO Jung Wooju) participated in SLUSH 2022, an event for startups held in Helsinki, Finland from November 17 (Thursday) to 18 (Friday).

inDJ started out as an AI-driven user situation/emotion analysis music recommendation and streaming service, and launched its ‘inDJ’ IOS and Android app beta service at the end of 2020 after a year and a half of R&D. The app ranked number 1 in the App Store and 3 in the Play Store only 6 months after its release, and has accumulated more than 300,000 downloads thanks to its patented technology.

The inDJ service, which was showcased at this year’s SLUSH, is a platform that recommends personalized music playlists based on analysis of the users' situation and emotions, along with their preferences. The strength of inDJ's AI technology is that it recommends music customized for different situations and emotions by analyzing 20,000+ personalized situations and emotions, on top of the music genres that the users prefer. Its AI-labeling system allows the platform to analyze the emotion, genre, instrument composition, BMP, and even social networking data of the music to reflect in its music recommendation.

In addition, the company is exploring new growth opportunities in cooperation with the automobile and household appliance industries using its music platform and exclusive technology. The startup plans to strengthen competitiveness by researching healthcare, smart home, and connected automobile technologies based on its patented user situation and emotion analysis technology.

According to inDJ, “We wanted to address the shortcomings of existing music streaming services, which only offered recommendations based on basic preferences, instead of taking into account changes in the users’ emotions and situations. Our platform overcame these weaknesses and provides a truly personalized music recommendation service that incorporates the users' situations and emotions, all at a reasonable price.”

“We have entered the preliminary stage of technology demonstration to introduce a service that will be integrated as software in connected automobiles and enable music recommendations based on what is happening around the car. Deals are going well,” the inDJ representative added.

SLUSH is a renowned Northern European global startup exhibition, first held in 2008, where startups from all around the world meet major investors in Europe and Finland. The companies participating in SLUSH 2022 took part in promoting their companies by running the K-STARTUP Pavilion, the side event “K-STARTUP Demo Day,” and networking with professional investors using a matchmaking tool.
